June 12 before I headed out to Lumby Days I picked these out of my Strawberry Patch. These are the first of my own berries... mmmmm. Unfortunately the birds are beating me to the biggest and the best berries, and since I only planted these plants this spring there is not much of a crop on them this year and what's there is fairly small. Next year should be much better.

I have never grown good strawberries! The one year they got to a decent size...the dog ate them all!
Yours look mouth-watering!

BAD dog!!! LOL.

They sure were tasty. I get a few here and there every few days and enjoy them to the fullest. Eternalspaz said these plants give real big berries so I'm hoping that by next year they will, lol. She gave them to me this spring so I figure that would likely have effected the growth of the berries as the plants were uprooted and moved just before bearing season. This year they're just tiny little morsels of sweetness. mmmm.

I am the last person in the world who should give advice about strawberry growing, LOL....BUT I've read that they need lots of feeding and heavy mulching.
(I will do better next season!)

Thanks for the tip, Kiwi. I do appreciate it and am open to all tips like this. I will add some manure and cover with wood chips... one day soon... lol.

Hi Wildside. Thanks for visiting. Yes, they sure were yummy. I could go for another 10 pounds of the little sweeties.

Or 20? Nope, that's just me -- I'm greedy!

Your photo makes them look just so mouth-wateringly delicious!

I like your way of thinking... 20 pounds it is. Eat 10 and freeze 10 to enjoy all winter, haha. I want to melt chocolate and dip strawberries into it... now that would be awesome!!

Hi again, Alice! Just plain strawberries for me! (But I still need to find a permanent space to designate to strawberries -- mine keep getting dug up all the time and truthfully are more blooms than berries).

Thanks for visiting over at my blog a few days ago, I replied to most of your comments there, but did want to come here to say please don't get too discouraged! Perhaps take smaller bites and build on that each year?

Hi Kiwi, Wildside and torquay pet shop. Thank you for your visits and your comments. Sorry I've kind of "dropped off the map" lately. I've just been so tired so much lately that I haven't done much of anything at all. Too tired to write here or do work at home or well... anything... sigh. I am beginning to feel somewhat better the last day or two though, so things may be looking up.

Kiwi, I will soon answer your email you sent. I am so happy to hear you sold your place and are off to the new one. WAY TO GO!

Wildside, I will soon come back to your blog. Love visiting you there.
I'm going to be in your neck of the woods the August 11-13 weekend. Well, your state anyway, haha. I'll be in Omak for the Stampede and Suicide Race.

Torquay, I will soon come have a look at your blog too. Thank you so much for your wonderful comments here. They are very much appreciated!! You can also visit my blog born2cree8.blogspot.com if you're interested in fibre arts such as spinning, weaving, dying.

Hi Alice, just wanted to see what you were up to and happy to see that you've replied. Sorry you've been feeling so tired of late, understandable (I often feel that too!), but I hope you had a good, refreshing time in Omak! (Long, long way away from here yet -- but yes, getting closer! ;-))
