All these iris plants are along the highway, running south-west from my driveway.

Beautiful colours, Alice. I have a pretty pale lemon iris, and one bright purple. Would love to have some like yours!
Thanks Kiwi, glad you like them. I like the light purple and the dark purple that I have but not real big on those "baby shit" or "mustard" with purple ones... lol... but they are better than none.
I was just given some new iris plants the other day. Took some pics of them and will be posting them soon... as soon as I find the time... and I will also be planting them as soon as I can find the time to do so... and the latter better be the former (get that one?... heehee)
I also was given some more columbine plants in a different color than the one Lynda gave me... will post pics of them soon too. Helen and Bob dropped the iris and colombine plants off one day while I was napping, haha... got up and there were all these plants.
BTW, Kiwi... if I thought they'd survive the trip through the mail to NZ I'd send you some roots of both these colors. Guess that'll have to wait until I come visit you... or you come visit me :o) and by then there'll likely be more colors I can give you too.
Alice, if they DID happen to survive the journey over....our Biosecurity people would likely trash a parcel containing bulbs or plants! Nice thought though.

Yes, Kiwi, I agree... The time in the mail was only part of why I didn't think they'd get to you. I also didn't think plants and such would be aloud through customs. Hmmm... maybe if I marked the parcel as "cookies"... lol.

Just out of interest I Googled columbines and found out:
{Aquilegias, or Columbines as they are commonly known, are grown for their beautiful, ...}
I like the name "Granny's Bonnets"... refers to the shape of the very pretty flowers. I also found out that they like moist soil and part shade so I now know where not to plant them... right where I planted the one from Lynda (will have to move that and plant it and the ones from Helen in a place easier to keep moist and in some shade).
Your dictionary is getting quite lengthy! I'll keep adding.... :>)
By the time I get to come visit you I should fit right in. Gee, I wonder if I'll one day make money selling the Kiwi-Canadian Dictionary. :o)
